[post_page_title]How the mills worked[/post_page_title]
Here is an interesting tidbit about the early mills around Niagara Falls that you might not know. While you might expect that the mills would be taking all of their power from the falls themselves, this is totally untrue. Instead, they gathered their power from the rushing rapids that are at the top of the falls. Still, this was more than enough power to go around.
As the 1800s progressed, more and more companies began to crop up in Niagara. Some of them went belly up quickly, while others lasted through the years.
